Analog Devices Inc. ADXRS800 High-Performance Angular Rate Gyroscope

Analog Devices ADXRS800 angular rate sensor gyroscope is specifically designed for automotive electronic stability control, vehicle rollover detection, and a wide range of high-performance applications. ADXRS800’s advanced, differential, quad-sensor design rejects the influence of linear acceleration. This allows the ADXRS800 to operate in harsh environments where shock and vibration are present. The ADXRS800 uses its internal, continuous self-test architecture to ensure highly reliable performance in demanding environments.

Designers can check the integrity of the electromechanical system by applying a high frequency electrostatic force to the sense structure to generate a rate signal. The rate signal can then be differentiated from the baseband rate data and internally analyzed. The ADXRS800 gyroscope is capable of sensing an angular rate of up to±300°/sec. The angular rate data is generated as a 16-bit word, and as part of a 32-bit SPI message. The ADXRS800 gyroscope operates across a wide 3.3V-5V voltage range and −40°C to +105°C temperature range.
