Analog Devices Inc. ADuM4136 Gate Drivers
Analog Devices ADuM4136 High-Voltage Gate Drivers are single-channel, insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) gate drivers that can operate up to 35V. Based on Analog Devices iCoupler® technology, ADuM4136 provides isolation from the input signal and the output gate drive. The gate drivers can use unipolar or bipolar secondary supplies. ADuM4136's negative rail can operate as low as -15V if required using a dual-rail supply. This capability provides a robust turn-off of the IGBT.
In addition, the ADuM4136's chip-scale transformers offer isolated communication of control information from the high voltage and low voltage domains of the chip. Dedicated outputs allow designers to read back information on the status of the chip. An integrated desaturation detection circuit protects against high-voltage, short circuit IGBT operation. The device's desaturation protection includes noise-reducing features such as a 312ns masking time after switching event to mask voltage spikes due to initial turn-on. An internal 537µA current source allows for a low part count. ADuM4136's internal blanking switch enables the addition of an external current source in the event that more noise immunity is required. The gate driver’s secondary UVLO is set to 12V with common IGBT threshold levels in mind. Analog Device ADuM4136 High-Voltage Isolated IGBT Gate Drivers are ideal for MOSFET/IGBT gate drivers, PV inverters, motor drives, and power supplies.
The ADuM4136 is offered in a 16-pin Small Outline Integrated Circuit (SOIC) Wide Body package, and is RoHS Compliant.
